Saphlux Exhibited at International Conference on Display Technology 2024 (SID China)

From March 31st to April 3rd, 2024, Saphlux participated in the International Conference on Display Technology 2024 (ICDT 2024) as an exhibitor. Dr. Jie Song, VP of Technology at Saphlux, was invited to speak at the technical forum session during the conference.

The event was held at the Binhu International Convention and Exhibition Center of Hefei, China. As the only display technology conference held solely by SID outside the United States, ICDT covers the latest advancements in emerging display technologies to intelligent manufacturing technologies. The goal is to promote research and development in the field of display technologies on a global scale, particularly in China.

Saphlux's exhibited products include a 108'' P1.25 2K direct-view QD mLED display (with a contrast module) designed for business/home theater, a 0.39'' monolithic full-color micro-display serving as the core component for AR glasses, and 0.12'' monochrome (R, G, B) micro-displays. Saphlux's all product lines incorporate its proprietary NPQD® color conversion technology. This technology has overcome the full-color challenge in the micro-display field and addressed the issues of color shift at large angles and color instability in conventional red mLEDs. It has thus enabled next-gen displays, garnering extensive attention from exhibition attendees.

At the technical forum session of ICDT 2024, Dr. Jie Song, VP of Technology at Saphlux, was invited to deliver a presentation titled "Saphlux's NPQD® technology enables full-color MicroLED micro-displays". Dr. Song pointed out that in micro-display products for AR/XR devices, Micro-LED technology is widely regarded as the ultimate solution for near-eye displays due to its high efficiency, high brightness, and energy-saving advantage. However, at the current stage, achieving full-color Micro-LED remains a formidable challenge for the entire industry to overcome. To address this technological bottleneck, Saphlux utilized NPQD® technology to achieve in-situ integration of full-color red, green, and blue at the wafer level directly on low-cost blue LEDs. Meanwhile, Saphlux has independently developed a complete set of technologies spanning from epitaxy growth to module fabrication, achieving innovative full-color Micro-LED chips and micro-display modules characterized by high luminous efficiency, low cost, compact size, and excellent reliability. This technology is also applied in the direct-view QD mLED displays that have been mass-produced and delivered to customers. NPQD® technology addresses the efficiency issue of conventional red LEDs, enabling the real unified RGB material and delivering overall superior color performance.

Saphlux is expected to launch the T3-0.26'' full-color micro-display and officially deploy it for end-user applications by the end of Q2. This display product will comprehensively cover the DCI-P3 color gamut and achieve a white brightness of 500,000 nits, aiding VR/AR manufacturers in creating high-brightness, high-resolution, color-rich, and superior-quality display solutions suitable for various scenarios, including outdoor environments.
